An amazing early morning flight from Queenstown to Milford Sound / Piopiotahi and be the first flight to land in the UNESCO World Heritage Area in the Fiordland National Park.

Sweep the length of Milford Sound / Piopiotahi where you can take in unparalleled views of world-famous Milford Sound and Mitre Peak before landing at Milford Sound airport.

Upon landing you will meet your guide for the morning and take a short boat ride to begin your walk on the Milford Track. We begin our 3 and a half hour guided walk, where you will explore the World-Famous Milford Track with knowledgeable guides and learn about the vast flora and fauna throughout. Halfway point coffee/tea break at the beautiful Giant Gate Falls before returning the same route you hiked in.

After your walk, you will return by boat transfer to the Milford Sound cruise terminal where you will be met by your pilot and board your plane for a scenic flight back over the Milford Track and Fiordland to Queenstown.

Flight path

Fly from Queenstown airport over the Whakatipu Basin and the Shotover River heading towards Glenorchy and the head of Lake Whakatipu. Fly past the famous Earnslaw Burn Glacier and over Lake McKerrow taking in the grandeur of the Southern Alps, flying deep into the heart of Fiordland National Park. View the glaciated region of Fiordland’s tallest mountain, Mount Tutuko, and sweep the length of Milford Sound where you can take in unparalleled views of world-famous Milford Sound Piopiotahi and Mitre Peak before landing at Milford Sound airport.

Milford Track

Upon landing at Milford Sound / Piopiotahi you will meet your guide for the day and take a short boat ride from the Milford boat terminal to Sandfly Point to begin your walk on the Milford Track. We begin our guided walk, meandering alongside the cascading Arthur River then Lake Ada, on a well-formed track. Our destination and half-way point is Giant Gate waterfall. This spectacular waterfall is best viewed and photographed from the large swing bridge spanning the river. On completion of the walk, an opportunity is made for photos at the sign marking the end of the walk, festooned with the boots of walkers that have made it to the end of the walk. After your transfer back to the Milford boat terminal you will fly back to Queenstown.
